Paul McCartney says wife Linda saved him from nervous breakdown during Beatles split
McCartney suffered a massive identity crisis as the band were splitting, a new biography claims
...An excerpt from the book, as published by The Sunday Times, reads: "Day by day, his (McCartney's) condition had been steadily worsening. His often sleepless nights were spent shaking with anxiety, while his days were characterised by heavy drinking and self-sedation with marijuana. For the first time in his life, he felt utterly worthless. This was an identity crisis in extremes ... when he did get out of bed, he would reach straight for the whisky and by three in the afternoon was usually out of it..."

ReplyDeleteMy theory is that The Beatles were murdered in Manila in 1966. William Campbell (Paul McCartney's double) burned the copy of "The Love You Make" that author and former handler (co-manager),Peter Brown, had sent him (see the1983 Playboy interview.) Ralph Ellis (John Lennon's replacement) had already died or faked his own death by that year. Ringo was replaced by Tara Brown, the Guinness heir (whose fake death was promoted in Sgt. Pepper's "A Day in the Life.". George Harrison was supplanted by a devout follower of eastern religion (his friend, Peter Tork of The Monkees, was another follower whose message was similarly juxtaposed against a diminished role in the band's spotlight.
